Inside This Issue Healing Through Story Book Reviews
Tributes to Nancy Duncan News From the |
There's an old story about wanting to know the difference between heaven and hell. When hell is seen, it's a large banquet hall filled with people at food-laden tables. But the people are gaunt, angry and starving. Upon closer look, their forks are 3 feet long and no one can feed themselves. When heaven is seen, it's the same situation; however, the people are healthy and happy. Upon closer look, they are using the 3-foot long forks to feed each other. This is who HSA is. Members, you and I, supporters of using healing stories, who are feeding and being fed by each other the nourishment needed to use stories to heal. Last October, I journeyed to Jonesborough for a banquet, the National Storytelling Festival. While there, I was fed by the stories as well as by the love, support and warmth of fellow storytellers. HSA was well represented both on the stage and in the audiences. I was pleased to see that HSA members Noa Baum, Annette Simmons and Joan Stockbridge presented three of the four educational workshops and members Nancy Donoval and Susan O'Halloran were featured tellers. And people were talking about our conference, asking questions and picking up information. Those who join HSA and support our efforts financially, are the reason we can "spread the word" through presentations, newsletters, journal articles, and on the web. Vanita Moore, Chair |
