Membership Update

We are rapidly moving forward, our membership is growing, the website is up and running, and we are setting precedents for SIG activity almost faster than NSN can keep up! As we continue to work together, our NSN Executive Board generously supports our needs, requests and plans.

A subscription plan has been approved. Many people in widely varied fields such as medicine, counseling, pastoral care and social work are discovering the power of storytelling and are interested in the work of the HASIG. However, many of these folks may belong to other professional organizations, don’t identify themselves as storytellers (yet) or are not presently interested in becoming members of NSN. Beginning January 1, 200l, we will offer subscriptions to our newsletters and journal publications for $25.00 without NSN membership. SIG membership for NSN members will continue to be $18.00. Until January 1, 2001, single copies of Volume One of the SIG journal, Diving in the Moon: Honoring Story, Facilitating Healing are available from Gail Rosen for $8.00. plus mailing. Checks should be made out to NSN Healing Arts SIG.

Note a change: All SIG memberships and subscriptions will begin on January 1 of each year and expire December 31. If you have any questions about your membership, please call the NSN office.

We will continue to offer the journal for sale and post the newsletter on the website. So, why should you subscribe to the SIG? There is more than one reason to join any organization - one is to get stuff, another is to be a part of and to support the work of the organization. We hope that all of you who are interested in storytelling in the context of healing will decide to support and join us. We will continue to encourage people to join NSN. Through your interest in this SIG, we hope that you will be drawn into the beauty and power of the storytelling "world" and all that the storytelling community offers. As more people join NSN, we will all benefit from a stronger, more diverse community.

We regret to announce that due to publication costs this will be the last free issue of the newsletter. Please join or subscribe now to continue receiving Healing Arts SIG newsletters.
