If I were working with your kids I would simply tell them stories for the sake of building a bond of trust first and foremost. I give these kids a moment of peace through my presence, voice and story. After that bond is established and they trust me, I would tell them stories around the issues they are dealing with specifically. Before establishing that relationship, they would not really hear the message, in my opinion. I am currently getting ready to go work with some kids and my brain isn't working right now. It's been a rough week. I will put some thought on specific stories and reply when I get home later today.
