MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hi. I have been silent on the list for quite a while, enjoying the thinkings and not feeling the need to jump in just to echo others' wise words. But now I'm wondering about another angle on Bob's looking at the dream/ sleep side of problem solving. I am always intrigued by the notion of Story Trance (as most elegantly discussed by Fran Stallings). I wonder if we can make the connection that story (at times) brings people into a state where they are sufficiently at mental peace (i.e., less distressed by the bombardment of competing thoughts and feelings, etc. ), as in Story Trance, a near dream state... In this state, might the mind be more effective at (life) problem solving? And might that be true whether the story path is coming from an outside source (the Teller) or the person themself if they have been able to clear the path as they recite their own story... The Story Teller is guide to a journey, offering a landscape to be followed in personal ways by each listener/ participant, but when the resonance is there, the story may open clearer paths in the mind, maybe even for the sleepless and restless. --Mike Seliger ------------------------------- To Unsubscribe from Healingstory send the message: unsubscribe healingstory to: listserv@maelstrom.stjohns.edu ------------------------------- | ||
