The South Florida Storytelling Project at Florida Atlantic University=20
announces an interdisciplinary academic conference that will present curre=
nt=20
scholarship on storytelling and launch the discipline=E2=80=99s first peer=
-reviewed=20
academic journal, Storytelling, Self, Society: An Interdisciplinary Journa=
l of=20
Storytelling Studies.=20

The conference is presented in conjunction with the Peace Studies Program=20
and College of Nursing at FAU, and the National Storytelling Network and=
=20
its affiliate special interest groups, including Storytelling in Higher=20
Education, the Healing Story Alliance and Storytelling in Organizations.

Storytelling, Self, Society feature papers and panels on themes related to=20
storytelling as private or public discourse. Presenters and participan=
ts=20
will represent disciplines including but not limited to storytelling,=20
communication, education, library science, literature, nursing, medicine,=20
business, peace studies, psychology, theatre and performance studies. Select=
ed=20
papers from the conference will comprise the journal=E2=80=99s first issue,=20=
and proceeds=20
from the conference will help underwrite publication. Information about the=20

The conference takes place at the Boca Raton campus of Florida Atlantic=20
University. The campus lies between the Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach=20
