Subject: New Works Commission available

On behalf of Karen Wollscheid, NSN Organizers SIG Chair, I am posting the
following information on a new works commission offered by the Organizer's
SIG. Please send this to others who might be interested - it is open to
members and non-members of NSN. This information is also available on our
website www.storynet.org .

-----------

With support from The Cummington Press, in memory of Harry Duncan, NSN
Organizers' SIG is offering a $2,000 commission for a work of storytelling
which stretches our concept of form and our conventional definitions of
narrative.

As a requirement of the commission, the creators will present the work at
the NSN Conference in Bellingham, WA, and participate in a discussion of
storytelling structure and aesthetics along with a panel from the
Organizers' SIG. The experience of the work should involve the audience for
45-90 minutes. The remaining time of the intensive session will be used for
discussion and questions.

In order to make this commission accessible to as many artists as possible,
the Organizers' SIG will accept submissions from NSN and non-NSN members.
Submissions must arrive by February 28 and should be sent to the NSN
Organizers SIG,132 Boone Street, Suite 5, Jonesborough, TN, 37659. SIX
duplicate packages must be sent for submission. The package may include any
materials you believe will help the judging panel understand the concept of
your piece. DVD, CD, video or audio tape is acceptable. We suggest that a
five minute excerpt accompany any full length documentation. Printed
scripts, descriptive proposals, photos and drawings are all encouraged. Send
in the clearest, best proposal you can with whatever information you think
will win us over. Just remember, we must have six of everything.

YOUR PACKAGE MUST ALSO INCLUDE: 1) Recommendations from three people who
have presented you. Include their phone and email contacts 2). A resume of
your artistic background. 3) A three hundred word argument for why you
should be given this commission.

If you have questions, please contact Gerald Fierst at
gerald@geraldfierst.com

Please Note: As a presenter, your conference fees will be paid except for a
$50 activity fee, but you will be responsible for your own transportation,
room, and board. The conference makes inexpensive room and board available
on the campus of the university.
