Dear Bobby and Andre and all of us, ' reading the correspondence back and forth, I am reminded of what I always forget, about this illlusory means of communication on the internet. In some ways the remarkable swiftness of contact and the ease at which so many can share in information, blinds me to the reality of what is absent. There is no breathing effect, no listening to tone of voice, or intuiting intentions and nuances. there is no real relationship. with people who I know well it is easier to speak directly. they know my voice and have a kind of ghost response to the words filling them with familiarity.. and still there can be confusion. it is so much like the difference between the text or words of a story written, and the actual living storytelling. so hats off to everyone for taking time to attempt to share nuances and intentions in order to prevent hurts .. what is the humor of it is of course that we can never prevent individual projection onto anything. It is the one thing that I know in my storytelling, that what I am telling may not be what my audience is hearing. love, laura | ||
