All, I am the one who is guilty of posting the Rushdie article and of inciting all the controversy it caused about copyrights, etc... I posted the article (without knowing the copyright policy for this group) for a few reasons. First, I am a big fan of Salman Rushdie's columns (I read the Satanic Verses, but I neither liked it nor understood what all the hoopla was about.) The other reason is because I am working on my Master's degree in Sustainable Development. It has been my contention for a number of years, that humanity has to change its story in order for anything that falls under the umbrella of sustainable development to be able to come to pass. I am at the stage of my degree where I must come up with a topic for my thesis. I have been trying to figure out an angle to take on this whole story thing. I considered the whole thing about stories as a resource that must be preserved as much as air, water etc... need to be preserved. However, I am finding myself much more interested in the question of how humanity goes about changing the story. Maybe all of you, in your infinite and enlightened wisdom, can help me with this.
