Dear Gail et al,

I have just finished the accompanying essay for the next Forum tale. It
was long in the coming, since Hugh Lupton who sent it had not given me
either a written, oral, or cultural source for the story and I did not
feel appropriate to put it out on our site, without anything of the
sort. It is however, more timely. The story is the SNAKE OF DREAMS ,
based on a Caucasian Tale. The essay explores what Gail is reflecting
on in her letter. It should be posted in a few days and I invite
everyone to read the tale, and the essay and respond.

We have a very special section on our website, which promotes
conversation and shared learning about the use of stories. I am
especially excited about this one. I will let you know when it is ready
for viewing. The story offers a very interesting experience to the
reader/listener in the way that the rich teaching tales of Georgia and
Caucusus seem to do without our usual bias and endings.
