Hi Where are you located? I'm an ex nursery school/elementary school teacher, soon to "hit the road" in an RV and set off on my second retirement (first was from teaching, second is from "professional" storytelling). I also worked at a Community Mental Health Center as a teacher/music therapist for many years. I'd love to help you, if I can drive to you. Otherwise, I'd be happy to respond to specific questions. Most folk-tales are about orphans, either virtual orphans (lost, captured, rejected by family, having to survive without family support or network) or true orphans, so the material is very rich for you. The mystic/spiritual quest is also based on the eternal question: "Who am I if I am not who I am." We are all wanderers, in the folk tradition, and have to "wear out 3 pairs of iron-soled shoes" before we can begin to discover who and where we are. So, I guess my first piece of advice is to identify with the children, to remember that we are all wanderers, searchers, "strangers in a strange land" . Good luck and God-speed.
