Dear Storytellers, I don't remember who posted the request for an evaluation instrument. I deleted the email by reflex too soon. I had posted that same question a while back and the silence was deafening. I'm up against the same problem again. I have contacted a friendly psychologist who suggested a couple of instruments. One is for children 5-18 and I don't think will help you this time, but you might need it some other time. It's called the Child Behavior Check List. It has a child, parent and teacher component so that you get a pretty good picture of the child pre and post. I haven't looked at it thoroughly so I'm not sure how good it is. The other instrument is called the Piers-Harris evaluation. It's a self-esteem instrument. I don't have that in my possession yet either, but hopefully by sometime next week I will. You also may try calling the American Psychology Association. I started that route but haven't followed through. The people there were very willing to help if they could. If you come up with anything else, please let me know. I'm working on character development retreats with kids, particularly at risk. It's difficult to get funding for prevention. Good luck!
