From the dramatherapy listser: RGK FOUNDATION GRANTS RGK Foundation is an independent foundation begun in 1966 by Ronya and George Kozmetsky. They chose to commit the Foundation's resources to support medical and educational research with no geographic limitations. The focus of the Foundation broadened over the years and now includes three main components: Educational, Medical, and Community. Grants in these areas include support for research and conferences as well as support for programs that promote academic excellent in institutions of higher learning; programs that raise literacy levels; programs that attract minority and women students into fields of math, science, and technology; and programs that promote the health and well being of children. The March 1 deadline is for applications for project directors for projects beginning no earlier than May next year and also for participants for the coming summer who should submit directly to the project director of the seminar or institute they wish to attend. The Foundation believes that education is the best way to help people achieve their potential and improve the future of the nation. It will concentrate its efforts in three theme areas: Addressing the issue of financial access to postsecondary education; Supporting efforts that help postsecondary students identify appropriate options and remain in school until they attain their educational objectives; Understanding and addressing the challenges faced by nontraditional students, including adult students, first generation college goers, and underserved groups of students. The research must be conducted under the supervision of a faculty mentor URL: www.afar.org DEADLINE: 2/26/02 CHILD AND ADOLESCENT INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH NETWORKS (NIH) The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) seeks to encourage collaborative partnerships among scientists from various disciplines to facilitate interdisciplinary approaches to significant Public Health questions in child and adolescent mental health. This initiative serves as a catalyst for the Institute's long-term commitment to strengthening the research base on child and adolescent mental health. Critical to these efforts is the recognition of the importance of linking basic science and clinical intervention development, of accelerating the pace of intervention development by repositioning such work within real-world settings, and of realigining the evidence base with clinical and service practice.
