I have seen yarn effectively used in environmental health presentations. In Washington State, the Dept. of Forestry has purchased several costumes for kids that are fashioned as a cape with a hood. Each one depicts an animal in the local ecosystem (racoon, fox, bluejay, salmon, etc.) and as children choose the costume then a story is told about how the actions of each member of the food chain affects all of us. The yarn is would from child to child as this story is played out - illustrating how we are each connected to the other and that our environment needs stewards to oversee that this delicate balance is maintained and respected. -- Allison Cox Vashon Island, Washington Visit my storytelling web site: http://www.dancingleaves.com/allison Also, see the Healing Arts Special Interest Group site: http://www.healingstory.org | ||
