Sharon and All, One of the activities I did with a hospice was to use a ball of yarn and each time a patient was mentioned the ball of yarn was unraveled and = given to each person who had worked with the patient. As they did this they = told stories about the patient. When they were done sharing about 7 or so patients the whole group was connected by the yarn. They then cut pieces = of the yarn and created story bundles to remind them that they were not = alone in their work and that they all shared in the same story. There was another group of young people that had been experiencing = conflict. I had them sit in a circle and tell when they first experienced a sense = of compassion. As they told their stories they threw the ball of yarn = across the circle to each other until everyone had told their story. When they = were done there was a huge star shaped by the yarn. They stood up holding = their point of the star and begin to dance in a circle with the star becoming = a moving sculpture. This was impressive because there was about 25 young people. So the star was quite large. I have heard that this group = resolved much of their conflict because of the excercise. I hope this answers your question... Andre | ||
