Hi. Just a brief introduction. My name is Elaine. I am 43, a teacher by profession and a lay contemplative by vocation. I am not formally involved in storytelling but have a deep love and affinity for the power of story to transform. Recently I have personally experienced some powerful transformation by "owning" and finding myself in story, particularly *Till We Have Faces* by C.S. Lewis and Clarissa Pinkola Estes' retelling of *Warming the Stone Child* Currently the story that I am living with is from the Bible, God leading the Israelites through the wildreness by a cloud. An interesting metaphor: something which obscures yet reveals, protects, covers in darkness yets gives light (pillar of fire by night). What I am wondering is, do any of you know any other stories, myths, etc... which would speak to the metaphor of being led by cloud, or spoken to out of the cloud? I am collecting things around this image right now and would appreciate any which you might have to share. | ||
