Dear Reader,
Welcome to the 2008 edition of Diving in the Moon, the journal of the Healing Story Alliance (HSA), a special interest group of the National Storytelling Network, the national organization for storytellers (www.storynet.org). Our purpose is to explore and promote the use of storytelling in healing. Telling and evoking of stories can facilitate the efforts of people and communities seeking physical, emotional, and spiritual healing and wholeness.

Our goal is to share our experience and our skills, to increase our knowledge of stories and our understanding of the best ways to use stories to inform, inspire, nurture and heal. We also wish to reach beyond our storytelling community to share with those in other service professions: therapists, clergy, health care practitioners of all kinds, anyone who wishes to explore the benefits of story as a tool for healing. This journal you now hold in your hands is one of the many ways HSA brings ideas, experiences and new techniques of healing story to the forefront.

If you are already a member of HSA, we hope that you have also been benefiting from our active list serve, the monthly teleconferences from experts in the field, and the wealth of resources on our website, www.healingstory.org.

If you are not yet a member of the Healing Story Alliance, please explore our website and consider joining us as we continue to support and learn from each other. Our mission is broad. We flourish and benefit many through the participation of members holding differing viewpoints, styles, perspectives and opinions about storytelling.

Again, we welcome you into this latest edition of Diving in the Moon, and hope that it inspires you to delve deeper into the vast world of healing story. Come join us on the journey.

Sincerely,

The Executive Committee of the Healing Story Alliance:
