Overview

 

The purpose of this experiential conference is two fold:

  • To investigate and explore the use of story to create occasions for healing and to promote health for individuals and communities.
  • To support participants in developing practical skills in story evoking, gathering, telling and listening skills.

This conference is for those involved in:

  • mental health and social services including counselors, psychologists, caseworkers and social workers
  • health care including physicians, nurses and all involved in patient care
  • end of life care including hospice and palliative care
  • complete health care including massage therapists, chiropractors, energy work, acupressure,
  • ministry and spirituality
  • community development; peace, social, cultural and community issues.

The conference will have five distinct tracks:

  • Community and culture
  • Grief and bereavement
  • Mental health
  • Medicine and related health care
  • Story, healing, and spirituality

CEU and CME information:

  • The Minnesota Board of Marriage and Family Therapist has approved CEU's for all hours attended at the conference.
  • The Minnesota Board of Social Workers has approved CEU's for all hours attended at the conference.
  • The Minnesota Board of Psychology has approved CEU's for up to 19.75 hours of attendance at the conference. All sessions have been approved for CEU's.
  • The University of Minnesota designates this continuing medical education (CME) activity for a maximum of 19 category 1 credits toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the educational activity and those activities that are approved by the University of Minnesota.
